There is a rare breed among writers.
They’re called Extroverts.
And my friend, Mrs. Janine Rosche, is one of them. It’s also why it feels like practically everyone knows her because she floats from circle to circle in any social gathering she attends and happily chats away with all those she meets. It’s central to her charm, especially among other introverts. She keeps conversations flowing and the laugher coming. If you ever attend a writer’s conference and Janine is in attendance, she’s the one you want to find. You’re sure to be well-entertained and promised to be introduced to plenty of people.
I’m happy to share with you her debut novel, The Wandering Heart. This book kicks off her Madison River series, of which you’ll be able to enjoy the entire series within year. (Props to her for working so hard to get them all out to readers so close together. Bravo!)
In this particular story, the characters deal with deep wounds, obstacles and yet a second chance at love. Read below for the book blurb.
In the first entry in the Madison River Romance series, Keira Knudsen gets the traveling opportunity of a lifetime, but when she reunites with her first love, Robbie, she learns that even a wandering heart needs a home….
No one in the quaint town of West Yellowstone, Montana knows that unassuming geography teacher Keira Knudsen moonlights as sensational travel blogger Kat Wanderfull. No one, that is, except for her first love, Robbie Matthews, who has just discovered the woman he is falling for online is the same one that broke his heart five years ago.
But Robbie has another problem: the mother of his daughter, Anabelle, has resurfaced after a three-year absence determined to rip Anabelle away from him. Robbie needs a steady paycheck for a chance at custody, and now, on the eve of a grand adventure that could give Keira a chance to flee her old, troubled life once and for all, she is in need of assistance.
With so much broken trust between them, Keira and Robbie must keep an arms-length away to make this partnership work. But the more time they spend together, exploring majestic places and sharing new experiences, the closer they get–until their secrets and dreams threaten to cost them everything.
And now, for a bit about Janine.
Where did you travel for your research of this novel?
When I was younger, my parents dragged me to visit West Yellowstone, Montana, so my father could fly fish on the Madison River. I fell head over heels with the place. Is there anywhere more majestic on earth? Not in my mind. Wild and romantic. Rustic and beckoning. The place begs to be written about.
What was the coolest/most interesting/unique fact you learned while researching for your novel?
Haha. Um, the mating behavior of mayflies. But then again, I do write romance, if you catch my drift.
What do you love most about your story’s location? What about your characters?
It’s a very come as you are place. Beauty is something, but not everything. Hard work should be rewarded, but grace flows as free as the Madison. My characters are the same, although their grace for themselves is often lacking.
What actor or multiple actors would you say inspired your hero?
My hero Robbie is good blend of Jamie Fraser (without the Scottish accent—pity) and Chip Gaines. He’s got a great personality, as you can imagine!
If you could travel anywhere in the world, what three places would you choose and why?
Denali National Park, Scotland (Hey, Jamie Fraser. Heeeeyyyy!), and the Galapagos Islands. Two of those places might show up in This Wandering Heart!
What are 3 things you could not live without while traveling?
A journal—I’m a ponderer, a physical map or atlas, and a super-dumb smile on my face. LOL. Yes, I am THAT tourist.
It’s Saturday night, you’re not writing and you’re kid-free, what are you doing?
I’m at the movies with the large bucket of popcorn. Or at home re-watching Outlander covered in tortilla chip crumbs. Fancy I am not.
What are your 3 favorite books EVER?
Hmm. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, Dancing with Fireflies by Denise Hunter, and Lady Jayne Disappears by Joanna Davidson Politano.
What do you hope readers will gain from your books?
A desire to see Montana for themselves and a bit of healing for the ache that just won’t quit.
What’s one thing you’ve learned this far on your writing journey?
Stay teachable. There’s always something to learn. Except commas. I’ll never understand commas.
More about Janine
Prone to wander, Janine Rosche finds as much comfort on the open road as she does at home. This longing to chase adventure, behold splendor, and experience redemption is woven into each of her rustic romance novels in the Madison River Romance series. When she isn’t writing or traveling, she teaches family life education courses to college students, takes too many pictures of her sleeping dogs, and embarrasses her four children and husband with boy band serenades.

Thank you for featuring Janine. I can’t wait to see her book out in the world. And Janine, I adore Joanna Politano as well. The first time I read her books, I thought, “Yes! This is what books are meant to be!”
