This is my follow up video to getting PHYSICAL boo This is my follow up video to getting PHYSICAL books into libraries, here is how my fellow indie authors can get their ebooks into libraries while ALSO still being enrolled in Kindle Unliimited.

Now, reader friends that don’t have KU, but are frequent library users—go look for your favorite authors’ books and request your library purchases them. (There’s a clip toward the end to show you how.)

Just a little piece of advice for those aspiring a Just a little piece of advice for those aspiring authors. 🫶🏻

You can do it! You’ve got this! 👏🏻👏🏻
I was once told you’re not supposed to say “congra I was once told you’re not supposed to say “congratulations” for a wedding anniversary, instead you say: Happy Anniversary. (Per etiquette advice)

While, I do believe the well wishes is fitting, I also think congratulations can be appropriate too. Because you know what, marriage is sometimes work. It can also be hard. It also seems more rare to make it your whole life with a single person. So I say, YES, congratulations (is in order) on making it this far, on communicating with one another, on supporting one another, on finding a partner that’s best suited for you, on growing and changing together instead of apart, on sticking with it when things get tough, on…any number of things that help make a marriage work. (You insert the appropriate sentiment.) You should and can most definitely be proud of this “accomplishment.” Society gossips too much about broken marriages (especially in the celebrity realm), rather than celebrating the ones that make it for the long haul.

Now that I’ve gotten a bit older, I see more marriages of friends and acquaintances not work out…for a number of reasons. (Many of them very valid.) It’s made me realize what a treasure it is to have a solidly GOOD partner. We’re not perfect (shoot, we mess up a lot and fall short on each other’s expectations often, and disappoint one another too), but I’m so grateful for this man I get to do life with and I treasure each memory together, because I’ve also seen too many friends experience the loss of a spouse and I recognize what a special gift it is to share year after year together, too. I pray we have the blessing of many more together.

Cheers to 19 years with my favorite guy.
Love you, boo! 😘

First, I want to say, I’m very particular of when First, I want to say, I’m very particular of when I write. I have the luxury of writing during the day while my kids are at school. I value and protect my family time and try to avoid writing evenings and weekends. This allows me mental and physical breaks as well. I might could write more books and faster, but this schedule works best for me. I wanted to show that even with just a little bit of time (2-3 hours a day), a novel can slowly, but surely start to form.

When I write a rough draft, I do what I call a “fast draft.” I don’t edit as I go. I don’t get fancy when my phrasing. I don’t reread chapters. I TRY not to alter the initial “bones” of my story I’ve plotted. I strictly just get the story on the paper.

This draft is for telling ME the story and info-dumping everything that’s been in my brain about these characters and their story.

I leave notes for myself in all caps throughout the manuscript like: MAKE THIS STRONGER. MORE BACKSTORY HERE. GO DEEPER. WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS CONVO?? And <insert: CHARACTER’S NAME I CAN’T REMEMBER>

It is messy and partial scenes on occasion, but it’s the basis of my story in which I will build, mold, and cut from.

The drafting is often my easiest step in writing a novel—it’s the editing phase that can be endless as it’s difficult for me to be completely satisfied, stop tinkering and overthinking details, and actually let it go. I’ll likely have at least three more additional drafts to this story before it’s close to being done. (I’ve honestly never kept track of this, and I often take lengthy breaks between drafts, so it’ll be interesting to see once this one is all said and done.)

I’ll be sure and log my process and share once I have another step completed. 😉

It took me 3 weeks longer than I intended, and an It took me 3 weeks longer than I intended, and an additional 20K words I didn’t anticipate, BUT WE GOT THERE!

Draft one, step one of…ten…or fifty…is complete. I’m excited, but mostly grateful. You never know what’s around the corner to stand as an obstacle in the way of finishing a project (for me, it’s usually unexpected health struggles). I’m so thankful I had such a long stint of relatively good health that I was able to manage this monumental step toward publishing my second book.

Up next: LOTS AND LOTS of edits. But for now, I shall just bask in this step being complete. 🙌🏻
