I wish there was an easy rating system for romance books that categorized them with a quick glance, but spice is soooo subjective. This is just my little visual of how I break it down in my mind.

It’s Ehlers-Danlos Awareness Month

Growing up, I was considered “weak” or “fragile,” but super flexible (cool!). It wasn’t until I had a formal diagnosis a couple years ago that I stopped blaming myself for my inadequacies. I have what’s called EDS: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. It’s a connective tissue disorder that affects the tissue in your body. The disorder impacts almost everything as connective tissue forms the framework, structure, and support of most organs and tissues.
Most people associate EDS with hypermobility (which is true), but there’s also loads of other symptoms like: easy bruising, slow to heal, joint pain, stretchy/fragile skin, muscle weakness, GI issues, cardiovascular issues, fatigue, and chronic pain…just to name a few.

We bruise easily due to our defective collagen which is a protein that provides strength to skin and connective tissue. EDS also makes your muscles work harder to compensate for the instability—leading to fatigue, pain, discomfort, and injuries while completing a normal/average-person type of activities.
There are 13 types of EDS so symptoms and their severity can vary greatly in each individual. I have the most common type which is hEDS: hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. A person with my particular type is diagnosed per a genetic expert via a physical exam and evaluation of symptoms. The other subtypes can be diagnosed with genetic testing.
There is no cure or remedy for EDS—only managing symptoms.

A few famous individuals diagnosed with EDS are: Billlie Eilish, Selma Blair, Halsey, Sia, and Rebecca Yarros.

My girls spoiled me this Mother’s Day. 🥰

First, we started with donuts and gifts, followed by a mani/pedi while drinking my coffee and reading my book. (Granted, they got nail polish on the carpet. I had to clean it up, ruin my nails, and then repaint them myself. But still. It’s the thought that counts. 😜)

They picked out my clothes (we all matched, of course 😂). I was gracious to them for not picking out a ballgown of some sort for our casual lunch. We did each other’s makeup, too.

We went to a bookstore and browsed books. I ended up buying them books, but it’s okay, several are ones we’ll read together (again) with my oldest. 🥰

We had a lovely lunch with my mom. We were so tired from all the pasta carbs, we came home to snuggle. (Mama took a power-nap while the girls watched a show. 🤣)

We regrouped for a rousing game of tennis (not really, they’re complete newbies and I haven’t stepped a foot on a tennis court with a racket in…fifteen years. 😳)

We were going to round out the evening with a Hallmark movie 😏, but we ran out of time and took a family walk instead. It was a perfect Mother’s Day. 😍
