Writers helping other writers

This is a rough concept I have in mind. I’m putting this here as a placeholder to remind myself to do it—when life is a bit less busy.

I’m a firm believer in community over competition and I love helping writers. I plan to create some blog segments or reference pages for aspiring authors to help them along their journey—whether you choose indie or trad. I hope to recruit some friends to share their tips as well.

Come back soon for future content. 🙂

– Love, Hayley

Had to pop in one of my favorite indie shops in th Had to pop in one of my favorite indie shops in the Tulsa area this weekend—Broken Arrow to be exact. 😍 Book and Bloom is located just off the Main Street and it’s just the most adorable shop—inside and out. They sell both books and flowers…along with the cutest bookish stuff too. They were pretty wiped out of blooms though, given it was Mother’s Day weekend.

If you’re ever in the area—I highly recommend you pop by! They have wonderful YA, fantasy, and romance sections (my personal favs) and many others too. 🤩

(I snagged me a shirt…in my signature color. Couldn’t resist. 😏)

I’m not one to minimize the world’s problems, but I’m not one to minimize the world’s problems, but I am one that gets overwhelmed by them. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s that I tend to care TOO much...leading to depression because of my lack of ability to help control or change situations. And it’s not that I don’t want my reading to be deep and intellectual or educational…it’s that sometimes, at the end of the day, in the tiny window I have left to read—I just don’t have the capacity for it. Hence, why I also write easy, sweet, feel-good escapes with happily ever afters, because the world is stressful enough. I wanted to create a place readers can come to and lighten their load for a little while. 🫶🏻

This is a good one if you’re a fan: of Hollywood life, celebrities, dogs, humor, banter, and sweet romance with no explicit content. 🥰

And yes, I use therapy putty as my fidget while I ponder.

April recap. It was a whirlwind, folks! Went to April recap. It was a whirlwind, folks!

Went to a couple of signings, met some word count goals, took a little mini vacay with the hubby, spent lots of time watching the kids do sport and activities (including a tea party with Miss Oklahoma and Miss America along with their own Miss— Miss Green Country, Alyssa Payne), pickle ball date, and snuggles with the pup.

All the good things in life. 🥰😍

HOW IS IT ALREADY MAY???!!! More of this to come this month…but like, on steroids. 😅🫠🤪
When I set out to independently publish my debut, When I set out to independently publish my debut, local sales was not even on my radar. The idea of selling to complete strangers and them being willing to try a nobody-debut author seemed insane to me. (In my mind, I solely counted on word-of-mouth from friends and Bookstagrammers) And yet, that along with friends and family buying and sharing about my debut, I’m opening my 5th set of book orders. This coming from the girl whose husband had to FORCE her to buy her first order of 100 books because she thought it would take at least a year to sell that many. 🫠😆 (and she sold those within a week of her launch, mind you 🤯)

Five hundred copies of a book is small potatoes compared to a lot of authors, but it doesn’t stop me from being SO GRATEFUL for the friends/family/strangers and my local bookstores who’ve supported me!

It’s cute that I thought I could write a shorter r It’s cute that I thought I could write a shorter rough draft. 😜🫠 Oh well. More words give me more wiggle room/meat in the story to play with.

I even met my goal slightly early—which is great since I’m adding more! 😆 The countdown to finish before the kids get out of school is ON!!!

I added the last slide as a fair warning since I don’t operate like most indies that turn around and publish quickly after their initial draft. I wish I could. I wish my brain and lifestyle operated that way, but they don’t—or rather, I choose not to. (Also, the beauty of independently publishing—you can go at your own pace.) Plus, this little book baby still needs lots of work—I mean love and attention. So my aim is spring 2027. 🥰

(PS I love IG’s song selection—especially given my last post. 😅)
